Violence is a major topic in our worlds society. For my quarter one benchmark i will look into Buddhism and Judaism to see how they view violence, and there beliefs of how it affects the world. Both religions are very different so i thought this would be a good topic to see if they can relate in anyway.
Buddhism

"Hatred is never appeased by hatred in this world; it is appeased by love."

Buddhism tells us that violence is never the answer. This particular quote is telling the people that you can't make peace by hating others. Buddhism in itself rejections violence in itself. the buddha says not to harm others in anyway physically or mentally because it will eventually catch up to you and you'll have to pay some way for it. This is what they believe to be karma. for every good thing you do something good happens to you and vise versa. So therefore having hatred for anyone will not solve any of our works issues, it'll only make them worse.

"dangerous disputes must be resolved. Because if you choose to leave devil alone – it will eventually attack you."

This quote says that all Buddhists must do everything they can in bad situations or else it'll hurt you. Just like how karma will always come back either good or bad, the way you treat situations and such will too. Buddhists like everything to be peaceful and happy so that humankind can live an easier life. Violence seems to control humans in their lives Buddhists believe if we eliminate violence we’ll be more open minded and kinder.
Judaism

“They shall beat their swords into ploughshares and their spears into pruning hooks: nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war anymore.”

This quote represents a lot of what the Jewish religion exemplifies. It tells us that they believe that violence is not accessible, and that anything that can hurt or harm anyone should not exist. This also shows us that actions such as war that can harm the world and others should not exist either. Jews believe that the god has the power to show us eternal peace only if we create justice and harmony throughout the world.

If thine enemy be hungry, give him bread to eat, and if he be thirsty, give him water to drink;”

This quote has a very powerful meaning behind it. It basically tells us that even when we have an enemy we must treat them with respect and care for them. Especially in Judaism equality and fairness is a must. They believe that everyone should be treated fairly and that people should rejoice with others success. All such otherwise is looked down upon. People should help others no matter what the circumstance

In conclusion we see that Judaism and Buddhism have very similar views on the topic of violence. both religions find that violence is unacceptable and that it will not help our worlds well being. our society will not function with violence occurring, and until that ends we wont have complete peace throughout the world
